Turn each page of a PDF into a picture: choose PNG for the sharpest text and lossless quality, JPG for smaller files, or WebP for the best size-to-quality ratio on the web. You can set the resolution, convert a page range, and download single images or all pages as a ZIP archive.

Converting to images is what you need when a platform accepts pictures but not PDFs, when you want to show a document preview in a chat, or when you need to drop a page into a slide deck. Pages are rendered locally at the resolution you choose, so contracts and ID documents are never uploaded.

FAQ

Which format should I choose?

PNG for text and diagrams (lossless and sharp), JPG for photos where a smaller file matters, WebP when you want both and the target supports it.

How do I get a higher resolution?

Increase the DPI or scale setting. 150 DPI is fine for screen, 300 DPI is the usual print requirement and produces correspondingly larger files.

Can I convert only some pages?

Yes, enter a page range such as 2-5 and only those pages are rendered - helpful for long documents.

Will the text still be selectable?

No. Once a page becomes an image, the text is pixels rather than characters. If you need editable text, use the PDF to text or PDF to Word tools instead.

Are transparent backgrounds preserved?

PNG output keeps transparency where the PDF page itself is transparent; PDF pages normally have a white background, so you usually see white.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No, pages are rendered in your browser with pdf.js.

Keeping text selectable and searchable

A PDF can hold real text or a picture of text, and the difference matters: real text can be selected, searched, copied and read aloud, while a scanned page cannot until someone runs OCR on it. Many "reduce size" tools silently flatten everything into images, which shrinks the file but destroys searchability and makes the text blurry when zoomed. If a document needs to stay usable - contracts, manuals, anything you may need to search later - keep text as text and compress only the images. If you are starting from a scan, run OCR first, then compress.

PDF versions, standards and compatibility

PDF 1.4 is readable by essentially everything and is the safe default for forms and general sharing. PDF 1.7 added better compression and is what most modern software writes. PDF/A is an archival variant that embeds every font and forbids outside dependencies so the file will still render identically in twenty years - archive offices and some government submissions require it, and it is a poor choice for everyday files because it is larger. Encrypted PDFs need the protection removed before any other tool can touch them, and a permissions (owner) password is weaker than an open password: it is meant to discourage printing and copying, not to keep anyone out.
